Why do I like it?

I have often wondered why there are certain things in life which I find I am attracted to, things most people would consider a drudge or a chore. For instance I like doing housework, I always have. At an early age I was instrumental in doing housework for my mom and encouraging  my siblings to follow suit. I would mop the floors and generally tidy-up. I would prepare and cook meals and even do the ironing without batting an eyelid! By nature I am a tidy person, the complete opposite to E. I hate seeing an untidy room and especially if it is the kitchen. Whenever I cook a meal I have most of the utensils, pots and pans ready soaking in the sink before I sit down to eat and immediately following my meal I will be back in the kitchen washing and tidying up. It is a compulsion and an obsession but I enjoy doing it. No matter what the task I strive to see it finished and in order. I am the same when at work doing jobs for other people, before I have even started the job it is finished in my mind’s eye. Once I start doing something though it usually leads on to something else and before I know it I am up to my eyes in work! Perhaps this is why I sometimes procrastinate in starting any task for I know I will be tempted to do more than I had bargained for. I suppose though as I like doing housework or any work for that matter, it isn’t a problem to me. Some folk simply hate doing household chores and I see this whenever I work in other people’s homes. I can always tell what sort of person lives there, whether they tend to be lazy or not when it comes to working at home. Some homes are kept in pristine condition whist others are completely untidy. Many of course are in between those extremes. I am not sure why it is that I enjoy housework, perhaps it is gender-related, perhaps not, I just know that I do. What about you? Is housework a chore you do because you have to or because you want to?
